Ross golfers have completed a double in the Herefordshire Ladies’ County Championship at Sapey GC.
Hereford Ladies Amateur Championship Trophy, the gross competition, was won by Helen Palmer, who shot a 76 to secure a comfortable victory, from Kate Derby (Herefordshire GC) 81, and another Ross golfer, Pat Watkins with 84.
Victoria Watkins fired 66 to win the Hereford Times Bowl in the nett competition Runner-up was Lesley Colquhoun (South Herefordshire GC) with 71 with Sharon Helps, of Burghill Valley, in third with 75.
The Woodpecker Team Trophy was won by the Belmont quartet of Caroline Charles, Gemma Allen, Jennifer Gladwyn and Martha Norton with 227.
A score of 229 was enough to secure second spot for the Ross four of Helen Palmer, Kerry Welding, Pat Watkins and Jan Armstrong with Burghill Valley’s Helps, Becky Lloyd, Vicky Howells and Mandy Haines third with 232.

Belmont staged the first United Ladies Pro Tour event with players from across the country taking part. There are six events in the UK and four in Spain later in the year on this new tour.
Kirsty Taylor with a one-over par 72 and 73 took the £1,000 top prize from Hannah Raplh and Carnoustie touring pro Katy McNicoll.
The tour returns to Belmont in September for the Srixon matchplay championship.

The men’s ‘A’ team won 4-2 away at Cleeve Cloud with the successful pairings being D Barnard and P Stone, S Bennett and M Stone, R Price and J Tookey. N Powell and N Rawlings and P Hill and C Paccagnini halved their matches.
The ‘B’ team also enjoyed a memorable success with a 7-1 home win over their counterparts.
Val Bland, Sue Palmer and Janet Bradnock comprised the winning team when the ladies’ section held a florida scramble to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.
