LEOMINSTER seniors gained a convincing 5½-½ win over Knighton with captain David O’Dowd and John Hunt leading the way with a 7 and 5 victory.

The club followed up with a 3½-2½ win over Cleeve Cloud in Goucestershire where Paul Oatley and Alan Hooper, Pete Sandall and Dave Botwood and Lawson Gardner and Norman Whittall ensure the success.

April Medal — Division One: Dave Botwood 67 nett. Division Two: Alan Hooper 66 nett. Division Three: Terry Carver 71 nett.

Tom Bishop Cup: 1 Alan Densley 39 pts, 2 Ted Amos 38, 3 Mike Storr 37 on count-back.

q Belmont seniors captain Pete Rouse hit a hole in one at the section’s monthly medal but found that his feat was still not enough to earn him top spot.

Ross Seniors beat Filton Seniors 2-1 in the Gloucestershire Golf Union annual under-55 knock-out salve.

Colin Bennion and Gwynne Morgan lost one down, Tim Rigden and Nigel Jennings won 3 and 2, Brian Prosser and Doug Duncanson won 3 and 2.

In a friendly match, Ross beat Cotswold Hills Seniors 5-3 with wins for Cec Wheatstone and Richard Topping one up, Alan Bebb and Phil Wilson 3 and 2, Peter Lowe and Mike Archer 3 and 2, David Thrower and Graham Weare 4 and 3 with halves for Peter Landau and Nigel Gibbs and Terry Savage and Graham Baum.

Ross were beaten 4½-2½ at Worcester Golf and Country Club with wins for Peter Chapman and Geoff Baker one up, Brian Clouder and Bob Cooper 7 and 5 with a half for Nick Swan and Peter Shaw.
