Neville Ovens earns a second term as captain of Ross Golf Club

NEVILLE Ovens has been appointed as club captain at Ross GC for a second term.
Ovens, who last served as captain in 2004, will be supported by his wife Jean.
The club annual meeting saw Phil Wilson elected as vice-captain, with Di Honey, Mike Cooper and Steve Price continuing as president, chairman and treasurer respectively.
Ovens’ drive-in event, a Florida Scramble medal competition which featured a hole-in-one by Geoff Thomas, was supported by 120 members and raised £480 for his charities, St Michael’s Hospice and the RNLI.
Result: 1 Terry Jarrett, Clive Whitson, Danny Gear and Dave Hart 59.7 nett, 2 Norman Lodge, Brian Cartwright, Stephen Gregory and Andrew Hobbs 60.6.
l BELMONT GC duo Jennifer Gladwyn and Gemma Allen have progressed to the second round of the Daily Mail Foursomes.
They overcame a Leominster pair, whom they beat at Leominster on the 19th hole.
