HEREFORDSHIRE Golf Club won the Hargrove President's Plate for the first time in the club's history after a 4-2 victory over Llanymynech in the final.

After losing a close match against Shifnal in the Hargrove Trophy they entered the Plate and proceeded to beat Shrewsbury B team.

They then had a 5-1 win over Oswestry carrying them into a semi-final against Hawkstone Park.

After four failed attempts to play the fixture due to the weather Herefordshire finally came out on top in a hard fought battle 3.5-2.5.

This set up the final in which they travelled to Llanymynech for the first leg and came away with a 2-1 win.

Junior Morgan Radziejowski and Pete James led the way with a seven up victory, followed by Jon Devereux and Alex Allen who showed their character to win on the last hole.

Will Lloyd and Tom Mansell played well but lost three down to a very strong pairing.

In the home leg Radziejowski and James again played exceptionally well winning seven up for the second time. After losing the middle game it came down to Devereux and Allen and they did not disappoint winning three up to record their ninth victory in ten games.

They halved the other one to stay unbeaten all winter and see the Herefordshire side lift this prestigious trophy for the first time since it's inception in 1988.

The Shropshire & Herefordshire junior team recently played in the Four Counties Tournament at Sherwood Forest Golf Club in Nottinghamshire where they finished runners up to Lancashire.

Radziejowski and Cameron Probert played from Herefordshire with the former winning all three matches against Lancs,

Cheshire & Notts. Probert also did well winning two of his matches.
