ROSS Golf Club hosted their first-ever Adult and Juniors Open Championship.

St Pierre member Joe Benetiz and his daughter Sophia won the event, beating 42 other pairs, with a remarkable 51 stableford points.

Forest Hills Club member Ben Roberts played alongside 14-year old Matty Dobbs and scored 50 points to finish second.

Club captain Kim Hampson and in-form Jay Greig also scored 50.

Greig won the best junior performer of the day award.

Like Sophia, Greig, 14, trains with Ross Juniors Academy.

His individual nett 64 medal score in the Open Championship made him top junior, while Phoebe Barber, 14, also had a nett of 64.

Nine-year-old Cam Hughes finished third with a nett of 65.

Junior Dani Hoof, from Lilleshall Golf Club, shone with an impressive score of 73 in the gross medal competition scratch.

Ross member Ted Williams, 16,, scored an impressive gross 74 while Mendip Spring Golf Club's Ollie Brimfield finished in third plaace with a score of 76.

There were nearest the pin prizes for Barber, Mark Furneaux, Luke Hodge, Alex Cruickshank and Ross Langdon.

The ‘2’ club winners also included Barber, Furneaux and Langdon, as well as Sophia Benitez, Joshua Millington and Archie Kendall.

Whole in the putting competition, Steve Woods, Sabrina Thompson-Green, Meg Langford and Ash Millington all excelled.
