ROSS Golf Club kicked off their men’s seniors’ programme for 2017 with their traditional three clubs and a putter 16-hole stableford competition.

David Morgan and Tim Fewell both carded 38 points, but Morgan’s better back-seven holes score meant he took the top prize.

Jim Millar finished third with 36 points, followed by Malcolm Thornton and Jeremy Picton-Turbervill. Meanwhile, Ross are top of the Winter RR League at the halfway stage and are undefeated. Their final matches are against The Worcestershire, Burghill Valley, Sapey and defending champions Leominster. The Seniors Winter Pairs League is drawing to an exciting finale, with newcomers Mike Lawrence and Tim Lewis heading the table with 14 points.

However, they will be pressed hard in their quest to receive the Patrick Curtis Salver by a chasing pack containing Dai Harries and Scott Thomson.

Graham Chick and Mike Harris and Peter Bennett and Roger Alford could also have a chance.

Meanwhile, the annual Seniors Open in July and October has attracted more than 140 members.
