ALEX Duncanson had a day to remember after his gross 68 medal round saw him being crowned champion in two competitions held at Ross Golf Club.

Duncanson's score included six birdies and 11 pars to get his hands on the Traders Cup and the Mike Lane Trophy.

This is the first year that the two major honours had been based upon a 36-holes competition.

Duncanson paid tribute to his player partners, scratch player James Dobbs and two-handicapper Harvey Hancock.

The latter finished third in the Mike Lane Trophy, with Dobbs just two shots behind in fourth.

With Duncanson now a three-handicapper, having only needed 21 putts in his round, he was also grateful for some recent tuition on the practice green from former club champion James Morgan, particularly as Duncanson's one-under gross par result meant that scratch player Niall Powell was only one shot adrift.

The July Medal section of the day was won by Duncanson's nett score of 64, followed by Phil Taylor and Tim Fewell, who scored 67.

Hancock's 68 score included an impressive eight birdies, while Powell and Robin Ledbury had nett 70s.

Carding 71s were David Warwick and Keith New.
