BURGHILL Valley Golf Club's Doug Taylor is the Herefordshire seniors champion following a four-hole play-off victory over Gordon Glover at Kington.

This was the second time Taylor had been involved in a play-off having lost on the previous occasion.

Both Taylor and Kington's Glover finished with a gross score of 76 in normal play.

Elsewhere, Roger Richards, of Leominster Golf Club, carded a gross score of 78, while David Hart (Ross-on-Wye) scored 82.

Glover did have the consolation of having the best net score of 68, pipping Burghill Valley's Dave Ewart (71).

Home player Nigel Venables came first in the 55 to 64-years-old category, ahead of team mate Phil Price, with Brian Capp (Burghill Valley) and Glyn Wictome (Kington) finishing in the top two places for players aged 65 and over.

The team prize was awarded to Kington thanks to Glover's 76. George Smith;s 81 and Andy Edey's 83.

Burghill Valley were second.
