HEREFORDSHIRE Golf Club got into the Christmas spirit by holding some festive competitions.

The pairs contest attracted more than 100 competitors and was won by Pete James and Morgan Radziejowski, who scored 45 points.

Second place went to Kevin Gallagher and Martin Lovelock, with 43, ahead of Jon Marks and Ray Snead and Peter Rulton and Tom McGoran, who both scored 42.

Meanwhile, 64 players took part in the seniors' stableford.

The first section was won by Alex Quinn, who plays off a 13 handicap.

Quinn scored 41 points, two points clear of Dave Hankins and Dave Falconer.

However, Hankins claimed second place after count back was taken into consideration.

The second section was won by Robin Smith with 40 points, with Mike Davies (38) and Clive James (37) finishing second and third respectively.

The female members at the club also got in the spirit by holding their own Christmas stableford competition.

Played over 13 holes, the event was won by Pat Gibbons, who scored 26 points.

Jan Preece was second with 25 points, with Julie Powell, who also scored 25, coming in third.

Elsewhere, Dan Griffiths recently won the men's winter pro stableford, ahead of Rob Morgan and Mick Carroll.

Sue and Cliff Mawby won the Division One section of the December Mixed Foursomes, ahead of Jeanette and Garry Duncalfe and Jen Gladwyn and Dave Williams, while the Division Two honour went to Jenny Cooke and David Gwynne, with Fran and Steve Ward and Penny and Richard Stevens finishing second and third respectively.
