ROSS Golf Club president Neville Ovens came top at an annual over-75 16-hole stableford.

He was presented with the club by last year's winner Gerald Turner.

Runner-up was club chairman Graeme Forrester, who finished on 33 points, with Cecil Wheatstone in third, also with 33.

Meanwhile, 12-year-old Harry Griffiths scooper the club's October Medal event with a gross 81, nett 65 score that included an impressive seven pars and a birdie.

The youngster, who had a handicap of 16, won on count-back after he was matched by Steve Crooks, who also carded a nett 65 medal score.

Chris Tweedale was next in with a nett 68, followed by Peter James (69).

Players who achieved nett 70s were Wref Digings, Graham Jell, Colin Price, Bill Knapper and Stuart Jones.

The award for the best gross performance was won by four-handicapper Harvey Hancock, who has enjoyed an outstanding first year at the Ross Club including his recent success in the Final of the Len Weston Cup.

In the medal event, Harvey was followed by Ross stalwart Steve Wallbank's gross 76, Peter Lawrence (gross 77) and Robin Darling (nett 78).
