TIM Wyatt and David Whitehead excelled at Ross Golf Club's Autumn Scratch and Handicap in a contest that attracted 108 members.

Wyatt, who goes off a four handicap, had a gross 73 medal round with two birds and just one shot dropped.

As winner of the Scratch Handicap Division, it caps an excellent season for Wyatt in which he has been an integral part of the club's A team, which gained promotion to Division One of the Gloucestershire County Foursomes in 2016.

For 13 handicapper Whitehead, who was Seniors Champion last year, a gross 80 nett 67 made him the best nett handicap player of the day and reinforces his reputation and standing. His memories of the day will reflect not only on an exceptional putting display, but also what might have been if he had not dropped five shots to par in his last six holes.

In the scratch category, the highly consistent Harvey Hancock and Colin Gladwyn scored 75's followed by 15-year-old Cam Haines, whose impressive 76 means that he now sports a four handicap. Steve Woods scored a 77 and Robert Beavis and Derek Hancock, (father of Harvey) featured with 78's followed by Colin Stanbridge's 79 and Alex Duncanson's 80.

In the nett handicap Division, Philip Thompson and Stuart Jones posted nett 68s, while Stephen Forrest, Richard Brough and Mike Harris all carded nett 70s.

Meanwhile, James Morgan beat his father Gwynne to claim the 2015 Huggett Putter competition.

James earlier bear Danny Gear in the semi-final, with Gwynne prevailing against Jonathan McGinley.

Head professional Tim Hall was too strong for his assistant Oli Leett in the final of the Professional's Putter.
