ED Morley and Paul Jones won the 2015 Burghill Valley Golf Club Pairs Open with a 10-under par 46.

The duo, who missed out by one point last year, saw a fantastic front nine put them at eight-under par, with Morley starting with three birdies.

They then battled through the back nine and thought they had thrown away their chance after Jones missed a five-footer for a birdie.

But it did not matter as they went on to clinch victory in the contest that attracted 142 players.

Meanwhile, Burghill proprietor Mark Ellis held his inaugural Presidents Day.

John Cowen won the men's section with 39 points, which saw 76 members take park.

The junior section winner was Skyler Lily, while Doug Turner was the top senior.

Meanwhile, Gil Savory won the Burghill Valley's Senior Captain's away day at Monmouthshire GC.

Savory finished on 42 points, four points clear of Chris Furber and Derek Craddock.

The senior pairs prize went to Steve Flack and Jo Norton following a birdie winner at the 19th hole.

Brian Vaughan and Mike Higgins were runner-up.

The Senior Greensome Pairs trophy went to Bill Toman and Chris Furber (41 points) after they pipped Keith Taylor and Chris Jones (40, while Malcolm Cross (28 putts) claimed the Seniors Mathias Putting competition.
