HEREFORD Municipal's handicap secretary Shaun Vivian has been showing his skills on the course by picking up a second consecutive competition win.
Despite missing several short putts on the bumpy greens, Vivian's excellent streak continued when he returned 35 points to lift the February Stableford winter league competition.
Alan Leake came home in second place, two points behind, and their combined total has lifted the pair into third place in the winter pairs league with only one game remaining.
Playing in only his third competition, Andy James took third place with 33 points, just edging out the top lady finisher, back-to-form Sharon Helps who returned 32 points.
Other ladies Jenny Wildman and Averil Magee were in a group of five players who tied for sixth position on 30 points.
Results: March Stableford - 1 Shaun Vivian 35 pts, 2 Alan Leake 33, 3 Andy James 32.
Standings: Winter Pairs League (best five combined Stableford scores from seven to count) - 1 Manu Bonnel and Kevin Childs 336 pts, 2 David Wooles and Duncan Smith 324, 3 Shaun Vivian and Alan Leake 310, 4 Harry Magee and Averil Magee 281.
Helps and partner Diane Slater won a closely-fought final in the Ladies' winter pairs knock-out competition when they beat Pamela Williams and Jenny Wildman one-up after a pulsating game.
Williams and Wildman made a great start and were three up after five holes but resolute play by Helps and a couple of long putts from Slater helped the pair to peg back and go on to victory.
q A countback was needed to to decide Belmont's recent stableford after a three-way tie.
Results: 1 Terry Thomas 38 pts, 2 Graham Hodgson 38, 3 Alex Quinn 38.
q Ross Moore and Dave Morgan topped the list in Kington's four-ball better-ball winter pairs.

q Eleanor Harrison and Elliot Buck demonstrated their skills when Burghill Valley's mixed section held their annual three-club challenge, a full handicap, better ball competition using only three clubs and a putter.
The pair returned 46 points to win the competition, four clear of Carol and John Freeman and a further one on from third-placed duo Robert Daniels and Heather Burley.
q Josh Davies and Sarah Powell were presented with the Summerhill men's and ladies' championship trophies respectively when the club held a well-attended presentation evening.
Presentations were made by ladies' captain Alison Baylis and men's captain Chris Glossop.

q Jennifer Gladwyn's 20 points were enough to earn her first place when new Belmont Ladies captain Kerry Welding held a well-supported nine-hole Stableford for her drive-in.
Welding's chosen charity is Renton Macmillan Cancer Support and she will be running the Forest of Dean half-marathon to support the cause.
