HOPES of two Herefordshire clubs contesting the Hargrove Trophy final were dashed by defeats to both Herefordshire GC A team and Belmont in the semi-finals.
Herefordshire were beaten 4-2 and 15 holes down overall by Bridgnorth A, while Belmont lost by 4-1 and 10 holes to Hawkstone Park A.
So it will be the two Shropshire clubs who contest the final of the Shropshire and Herefordshire Union's premier winter team knockout over two legs on March 11 and 25.
Herefordshire travelled to Bridgnorth for the second leg of their semi-final and went down 2-1 and by eight holes.
Jon Devereux and Elliot Shaw won 1-0 against Bridgnorth's Darren Lewis and Paul McGarry, John McQuillan and Kevin Gibbons lost 4-0 to Declan McDonnell and Jeremy Wilson, and Neil Greening and Ben Synnock lost 5-0 to Gavin Chandler and Tim Harvey.
Belmont were at home for their semi-final second leg but went down 2-1 and by five holes to Hawkstone.
Belmont's Ryan Jones and Dan Morris lost 4-0 to Tom Benbow and Same Breakes, Greg Morgan and Colin Gladwyn lost 6-0 to Nic Evans and Nigel Chesters, and Pete James and Andy Lambert won 5-0 against Ricky Pharo and Ashley Chesters.
Both Herefordshire and Belmont were left trailing after the the first legs of the semi-finals.
Herefordshire were unable to convert home advantage into victory against Bridgnorth A and lost 2-1 and seven holes down, while Belmont lost 2- and by five holes at Hawkstone Park A.
At Wormsley, Herefordshire's Jon Devereux and John McQuillan lost 3-0 to Darren Lewis and Paul McGarry, Elliot Shaw and Kevin Gibbons lost 5-0 to Declan McDonnell and Jeremy Wilson, and Neil Greening and Ben Synnock won 1-0 against Gavin Chandler and Tim Harvey.

There was some good news for Herefordshire in the President's Plate with Kington A reaching the final with an overall result of 4-2 and six holes over Hawkstone Park B.
But South Herefordshire went down 4-2 and by seven holes in their semi-final against Market Drayton who will meet Kington in the final on March 11 and 25.
Kington clinched their place with a 2-1 and four-hole win at Hawkstone in the second leg of the semi-finals.
Alan Williams and Graham Priday won 6-0 against Stuart Smith and Alan Priestley, Dave Morris and Josh Davies lost 3-0 to Simon Breakes and Peter Edwards, and Matt Davies and Roger Richards won 1-0 against Ian Bailey and Peter Young.
South Herefordshire lost 2-1 and by five holes at home to Market Drayton.
South Herefordshire's Steve Roberts and John Tookey lost 3-0 to Phil Ash and Pete Watkins, Simon Stone and Alley Watkins won 4-0 against Ian Corcoran and Derek Capper, and Phil Hill and Tony Green lost 6-0 to Pete Yelland and Rob Bayliss.
Kington A beat visiting Hawkstone Park B 2-1 and by two holes in the first leg of the semi-finals and South Herefordshire lost by the same scoreline in their away match at Market Drayton.
