HEREFORDSHIRE GC captain Dave Gwynne has presented the trophies to the winners of the summer Junior Championship held at the Halo Golf Course. Herefordshire and Halo have a junior partnership and John Walker, junior organiser of Halo, is hoping to encourage more youngsters into golf.

Harrison Gobey was the winner of the nett competition and Declan Kinsella was the gross winner.

At Brampton golf course, a charity match for the Rainbow Cancer Care Foundation saw the home club beat Cleobury Mortimer 7-5 in a Ryder Cup-style contest. The winning captain was Bob WIlliams while Alan James holed the winning putt as £453 was raised for the charity.

After Niall Powell's win in the Herefordshire Junior County Championship, there have been two other success stories for the Ross Juniors Academy.

Eleven-year-old Harry Griffiths, from Ledbury , has been chosen to attend special county coaching with the Gloucestershire Golf Union.

Harry will be joined by 14-year-old Cam Haines.
