SHROPSHIRE and Herefordshire Union of Golf Clubs held their Summer Meeting for Past Captains at the Royal St David’s Course in Harlech when 77 past captains, of whom 15 had served for Leominster, played the par 69 links course.

Last year, LGC’s 2010 Captain, Wayne Barton, won the competition and this year Peter Morris, 2008 Captain, stepped up to win with 39 Stableford points.

Phil Lawrenson, another former Leominster captain, came third with 33 points.

Event organiser Bee Baxendale has stepped down after confusion reigned at the end of this year's Herefordshire Ladies' Amateur Championship.

In a statement, she said: "Event organiser Bee Baxendale hereby issues an unequivocal and sincere apology for the mistake she made in not allowing a play-off for the 2014 County amateur golf Championship and deeply regrets the upset and embarrassment she caused to the Lady Golfers of Herefordshire, to Kington Golf Club and Ladies Committee and to the HGCLCC Committee, from which she has resigned."
