ROBERT Archer fired a round of 84, matching his age to take the top prize as Herefordshire seniors continued their winter trophy stableford programme with a competition which attracted a field of 46 players.

With good course conditions for the time of year resulted in some excellent scores, Archer, playing off a handicap of 22, won the higher handicap division as he carded the best score of the day with 44 points.

In second place Nigel Yarwood, playing off 20, carded 43 points. Robin Smith, playing his first game with the Herefordshire Seniors since joining from Belmont Golf Club took third place with 41 points, playing off a handicap of 21.

In the lower handicap division Kevin Baylis claimed first place, playing off a handicap of 16, with 42 points. He just edged Greg Hanley, playing off 12, into second place on count back. Phil Manns, also playing off 12, scored 41 points to claim third place.
