LADY Hawkins’ High School’s Harry Horlock has won the Herefordshire County Schools Golf competition after firing an impressive round of 72.

Playing at Kington Golf Club, Horlock’s score was just two over par for the course.

The nett competition was won by Rhys Powell, from St Mary’s High School, with a score of 61 (89-28-61.

Jack Cooper (Lady Hawkins’) was second with 91-28-63 while Kingstone’s Rory James was third with 78-13-65.

The nearest-the-pin competition was won by Ben Butler (Hereford Cathedral School) while Niall Powell (John Kyrle) won the longest drive and nearest-the-pin on the 18th competitions.

The team competition was won by Lady Hawkins’ with St Mary’s in second from third-placed Earl Mortimer College.

There were three entries in the girls’ competition with Izzy Turner of the Bishop of Hereford’s Bluecoat School coming out on top with a nett 70.

Beth Morris (Earl Mortimer College) was second with 76 with Charlotte Green (Bishop’s) third with 81.

In total, 34 students from eight schools took part in the tournament.
