WESTFIELDS go into this evening's trip to Coventry Sphinx on the back of a thumping 4-0 win over nine-man Bardon Hill.

Sean Edwards' side recorded their 11th Midland Football League Premier Division win of the season with two goals from leading scorer Jamie Cuss and one apiece from Aidan Thomas and Ben Miller.

Westfields’ performance was determined and Cuss put them ahead from close range in the 20th minute.

Just before the break, Westfields added a second goal through Thomas who fired home a right foot shot.

Bardon Hill enjoyed their best spell in the early stages of the second half and twice John Hopkins in the Westfields goal had to cut out crosses before the Leicestershire side began to lose their discipline and had a defender sent off for dissent.

Westfields extended their lead when good work by Sam Gwynne and James Baldwin set up a chance for Miller and the youngster made no mistake with a low shot.

Bardon Hill’s keeper then made two spectacular saves from Miller and Baldwin before the home side were reduced to nine men, again through lack of discipline.

Westfields made the home team suffer when again good play by Baldwin found Cuss and he made no mistake to put Westfields 4-0 with a close range finish.
