GUEST of honour Gordon Cutler heaped praise on Westfields when the city side held their end-of-season dinner and presentation of awards evening at Burghill Valley Golf Club.

“You may be disappointed as a club that you missed promotion by only two points but the MFA management committee are delighted you are still in our league,” said Cutler, who is the Midland Alliance treasurer.

“You are a credit to the league as a team and club and have a ground and facilities to be proud of.

“My challenge for Westfields next season is to win the MFA League and get promotion to the Southern League and to get to Wembley in the FA Vase — I would love to come with you!” Chief executive Andy Morris paid tribute to the club’s management team of Sean Edwards, Joe Rawle, Darren Lynch and Nathan Rivers who had given superb service to the club and had inspired the team to runners-up position in the Midland Alliance. This was as well as retaining the HFA Senior County Challenge Cup and beating Hereford United to win the HFA SeniorCup.

“We have a superb array of trophies again this year and our home pre-season friendlies against Blackburn Rovers, Hereford United and Bishop’s Cleeve will give everyone a big lift for the new season,” he said.Morris also paid tribute to the Herefordshire Premier Division management team of Steve Higgins, Anthony Rivett and Paul Martin who played an important part in the structure of the club.

Especially praised were Westfields Under-18 team who had a successful season and had won an international tournament in Holland under the management of Richard Cassidy.

“What we achieved was incredible as a club, we set high standards,” said chairman John Morgan.

“Our committee, sponsors and management teams are the best, and a great credit to Westfields FC.”

Andy Morris made special reference to the ground improvements.

“We are now geared up on and off the pitch for the next level of non-league football,” he said.

“Our sponsors allpay Ltd, Hereford Times, Crest Nicholson and our links with Hereford Sixth Form College give a sound structure for the future and they play an important part in our success due to their support of the club.

“Our chairman John Morgan and committee member Alan Dunsford have both contributed to make our facilities at allpay.park something to be really proud of — we have it right on and off the pitch.”
