WESTFIELDS returned to winning ways after beating bottom club Boldmere St Michaels 3-1 in Total Motion Midland Football League Premier Division.

Sean Edwards was forced to make changes due to Kane Kahaki and Matt Sysum serving one match suspensions and Aidan Thomas and James Febery injured.

Westfields took an early lead when Ben Hayes fired home at the far post, but Boldmere came back into the game and forced Keiron Blackburn into two good saves.

The home side then had chances to increase their lead, but were made to pay when Boldmere equalised.

Nicky Dodd was on hand to head home at the far post.

After the interval, Westfields began to play with more pressure and a higher tempo and went back in front in the 51st minute thanks to a fine shot from Richard Greaves.

Shortly afterwards, Mark Magee made it 2-1 and it looked like the floodgates would open.

Jamie Molyneux fired against a post, while at the other end, Phil Glover had to twice make goal-line clearances.

Westfields then brought on Hayden Turner and the youngster had a shot that went over the bar with his first touch, before Glover headed over.

But in an end-to-end game, Blackburn had to save at full stretch and Glover again had to clear off the line.

Tomorrow night, Westfields face Stourport Swifts in a Midland League Cup second round tie before hosting Shifnal Town in the FA Vase this Saturday.
