CAPTAIN Phil Glover says he would love to create more history with Westfields this weekend.

The Hereford based side will be aiming to reach the fifth round of the FA Vase for the first time in their history when they take on Hamble Club at allpay.park.

And having made the first round of the FA Cup for the first time last season, Glover is confident Westfields can win on Saturday.

"It would be good to make some history, and personally, it would be quite satisfying if I can do it as the skipper, said Glover.

"We've had a bit of an indifferent start, but I think we've now only lost one in 13 games so we're in a good run of form.

"And with the boys we've got here, I'm confident we can do well in the Vase."

Glover said the team spirit at Westfields is sky high and with new additions like Jamie Molyneux, Mark Magee and Sam Mendes, it's one of the best squads he's seen at the club.

"I think everyone is more focused this season and it's even more positive than last year," said Glover.

"Everyone knows it's a big game on Saturday, but we will prepare right and are looking forward to it."

Former player Jamie Cuss has also come on board at Westfields on a dual registration deal from Hereford as he battles back from a serious knee injury.

"He went to Kington but I don't think they played many games over Christmas so he came here and all the lads welcomed him," added Glover.

"Once he is fully fit, he will be a massive addition."

Westfields were due to host Midland League high-fliers Sporting Khalsa last Saturday, but a waterlogged pitch resulted in it being postponed.

"We had a full squad train on the 3G pitch at the Sixth Form College instead and did a couple of hours," said Glover.

"The management team always try and make training as realistic as playing as possible and it was a good workout."

Hamble Club are based near Southampton and are 10th in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division.

"They had a fantastic season last year but this year they've been a bit inconsistent, a bit like us," said Westfields manager Sean Edwards.

"They've got Nathan Lynch up front though and he's a really handful.

"In the Vase anything can happen, but hopefully the lads will perform on the day."

Apart from Anthony Robbins, who is a doubt with a knee injury, Westfields should have a fully fit squad available for the game.
