WESTFIELDS were left furstrated after only claiming a point against South Normanton Athletic in Midland Football League Premier Division.
Sean Edwards' side thrashed their opponents 6-1 on the opening day of the season, but South Normanton had a much improved line-up, which included former Sheffield Wednesday, Derby and Nottingham Forest striker Marcus Tudgay.
Westfields dominated the first half and only a solid defence and poor finishing prevented them from scoring.
However, South Normanton also struck the woodwork and had a good shout for a penalty waved away.
A more even second half saw both sides go close to scoring, but it was half-time substitute Carlos Moreira who broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute.
South Normanton hit back within a minute though when Alan Jones picked up a through ball before slotting it past Keiron Blackburn.
The Westfields keeper had a fine game and pulled off two fantastic saved to prevent the home side from scoring again.
However, neither side could find the net again and Westfields came away with a draw.
They are back in action tomorrow night when they have another long trip, this time to Shepshed Dynamo.
