HEREFORD manager Pete Beadle praised teenager Harry Franklin after he starred in his side's 2-2 draw at Gloucester City on Monday night.

Franklin started at right-back and Beadle says he could be proud of how he played against the National League South side.

"I thought Harry was exceptional, especially for a 17-year-old," said Beadle.

"He tired towards the end, but he hasn't tested himself against a team of that ilk before.

"He is also not a right-back, but now I know that, if called upon, he won't let us down.

"He kept going and never gave up."

Hereford had to play the last 25 minutes with 10 men after Garyn Preen was sent off for a reckless challenge.

"Garyn is not a dirty player, but it was a rash challenge," added Beadle.

"The ref had a job to do, but I felt one or two other players should have had the same treatment."

I was really pleased with the performance and we caused them a lot of problems, especially in the first half.

"In the second half, we lost it a little bit after going down to 10 men, but overall it was a really pleasing outcome."

Hereford started brightly and opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Jack Deaman headed home Preen's cross.

Gloucester equalised 10 minutes before half-time when Karnell Chambers was on hand to drill the ball past Ethan Ross.

However, Hereford went back in front just three minutes later.

Deaman was bundled to the floor and a penalty was awarded.

Lance Smith – who has impressed for the Bulls during the past week – duly dispatched the spot-kick home.

A power cut five minutes after half time saw the floodlights temporarily go out.

Then came Preen's dismissal, with other cards soon being brandished.

Hereford had a chance to secure the win five minutes from time, but former Gloucester player Calvin Dinsley saw his header go over.

Wayne Morford then showed him how it was done by planting home a cross to claim a draw.
