EVESHAM United manager Paul Collicutt said his club must be doing something right if Hereford were interested in four of his players.

Striker Lance Smith and winger Garyn Preen have both agreed terms at Edgar Street, but captain Linden Dovey has decided to stay with the Worcestershire club.

Collicutt has also confirmed that Hereford manager Pete Beadle enquired about centre-half Liam Harding, but was unaware that he had picked up a serious injury that is set to keep him out of action for up to a year.

"He got injured before the end of the season," said Collicutt.

"He did his cruciate ligament and will be out for 12 months.

"Hereford came in for him at the end of the season, but didn't realise he was injured.

"Hereford are a very ambitious club and, if I'm honest, I am jealous of the them with the crowd they get.

"But we must be doing something right for them to come in for four of my players.

"We like to play entertaining football and sometimes it comes off and other times, it doesn't."

Preen, who Collicutt has described as a winger who can play on the right or left hand side, went back to Evesham last season after being released by Hungerford Town.

"He's a quiet lad, but is a good footballer who has pace and will entertain the fans," said Collicutt.

"He was on loan from Hungerford and went back there.

"However, he had a falling out with them and, for the rest of the season, was an Evesham United player.

"He can play on the right or the left, but is a winger.

"He really is a top lad and won't cause any trouble in the changing room."

Collicutt also believes Smith will do well at Hereford.

"Lance will be playing at a standard that he has never played at before, but he is a player that, given the chance will excel," said Collicutt.

"Hereford have two very good players."
