MANY Hereford fans are shocked by the decision to release captain Joel Edwards.

The popular skipper led the Bulls to six trophies in two seasons, as well as captaining them to a Wembley final.

Many people felt that Edwards should have been kept on and are wondering who manager Pete Beadle has in mind to replace him.

@The Reverend: @JoelyEdwards will go down in history & be spoken in same breath as Radford, McNeil, George. Beadle has made an error and should reconsider.

@Willburch9: In my opinion, no matter who he brings no one compares to @JoelyEdwards the Hereford lad who lead the ford on Wembley pitch.

@William64376751: @JoelyEdwards Thank you for playing for Hereford you can say you've lead your local side to Wembley and won 6 trophies in two seasons.

@simonowen2325: Sorry to see you leave, you've been a major part of rebuilding the club. And you've led a team out at a Wembley cup final.

@Alastairhufc: Shame to see Joel Edwards released. A local lad being captain was great. I'll never forget seeing him lead us out at Wembley. #OneOfOurOwn

Edwards used to play for Westfields.

Player-coach Scott Jackson was also surprised with the news.

@scottyjacko: The lad loves the club and gave everything!!! Will be interesting to see who Beadle had to replace him!!!!

Many people have also given their reaction on the Hereford Times' desingated football page.

Ian Purnell: That's a bad decision best left back I've seen in a Hereford shirt for many a year.

Stuart Tucker: Terrible decision, he put in some great performances towards the end of the season and you won't great a more committed player.

Di Wathen: Shocked at this one,and so disappointing for Joel.He has been such a great ambassador for the club ,always has time for photos and autographs and has given time to coaching many youngsters too.In this day and age it has been so refreshing to see this type of attitude and commitment.Take a bow Joel you have done yourself proud and hfc too.Hope you enjoy more good times to come.

Joan Honnor: From hero to zero. Joel was so much more, captain, committed, friend and idol to so many young supporters and a gentleman. Good luck Joel, our loss will be someone else's gain.
