HEREFORD FC are set to complete the signing of full-back Adam Davies from Merthyr Town.

Davies joined Merthyr two years ago and can play in either full back position.

He is a product of Cardiff City's Academy and won the the Welsh League Division One title with Monmouth Town prior to moving to Merthyr.

While with the Martyrs, he won the Southern Football League Division One South & West championship under current Hereford assistant manager Steve Jenkins.

Former Hereford United player Gavin Williams, who is the manager of Merthyr, said: “It is a major blow to lose Adam.

"We fought hard to keep him in the summer when there was interest in him, and we have tried to keep him again but he has decided to leave.

"For the last three seasons now we have lost our player of the year.

"It is frustrating because it makes it difficult to build a squad to challenge for the league, but unfortunately that is the nature of football, especially non-league football.”
