ONE player in Hereford's camp who knows a little bit about Saturday's FA Cup opponents is newcomer Jamie Cuss.

The 30-year-old played against Romulus in Westfields colours in a Midland League match soon after arriving at the club. And he also starred for Sean Edwards' side in a preliminary round FA Cup match two years ago.

Hereford make the trip to Romulus in the first round qualifying this Saturday after the West Midlands outfit sealed a hard-fought 2-1 win at Sporting Khalsa.

Romulus compete in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One South and ground-share with Sutton Coldfield Town, which has a 3G playing surface.

“I played at Romulus when I joined Westfields and that was around nine years ago when they were in the Midland League,” recalled Cuss.

“Romulus won the division that season and it’s a long time ago but I am sure they will be another good side who will be hard to play against.”

Cuss played a key role, providing an assist and scoring the equaliser as Hereford hit back from a 2-0 half-time deficit to win 4-2 against Alvechurch in their FA Cup preliminary round tie.

Cuss carved a name for himself as a striker at Westfields but came off the bench to replace Rob Purdie on the right side of midfield in the preliminary round tie.

But the Hereford lad admits he’s ‘itching’ to play every match and doesn’t mind the position.

“I have played midfield many times before so I am not worried about that,” said Cuss.

“When you are on the bench you have to sit and wait and hope the manager calls out your name.

"I am itching to get on to the field every time I am on the bench. I just want to play.”
