WHILE an FA Cup run would raise Hereford’s profile and add money to the coffers, manager Pete Beadle insists the league programme ‘is the be-all and end-all’ this term.

Beadle says he would like the Bulls to make progress in the competition but admits Hereford United were the club with the FA Cup giant-killing tradition.

Hereford are targeting promotion to the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division and are top of Division One South and West after six straight wins.

“The league is the be-all and end-all for us this season and the cups are a side attraction,” said Beadle.

“We want to do well in them but we won’t do it at the cost of the league.

“But it would be nice to go through a couple of rounds and see if we can tempt ourselves with the first round (proper).”

Hereford won their maiden FA Cup tie, securing a 4-2 home win preliminary round win against Alvechurch.

The Bulls now travel to Romulus in the first round qualifying tomorrow (3pm).

“This is a new club and the old club had the FA Cup tradition,” said Beadle.

“We have to make it ours this season and over years to come.

"I was more than happy with the result and the second-half performance against Alvechurch.

"But our general play in the first half of that match wasn’t good enough.”
