FANS favourite John Mills is hopeful of staying in the Hereford FC side for as long as he can after scoring a hat-trick today.

Mills started the first two games of this season on the bench for the Bulls and but played from the off today against Bridgwater Town.

And Mills reminded Hereford manager Pete Beadle what he can do by netting a hat-trick in a 6-0 win.

"I want to play as much as I can, but if the gaffer doesn't see that, then I'll sit on the bench and try my best when I come on and hopefully change games," said Mills.

"On Tuesday, I was quite pleased with how I did, we got the win, and today I've been rewarded with a start and hopefully I can keep the shirt for as long as I can."

There was talk that Mills could be on his way at the end of last season, but the striker said he always wanted to stay.

"At the end of last season, the gaffer wanted to keep me and I was more than happy to stay," he said.

"There was no truth in the rumours whatsoever."
Mills was pleased with how Hereford played today.

"You can see we were running in quite a lot and everything seemed to work ok," he said.

"[Jamie] Edge came in and did very well, Greener came straight back in and there was no changes with him, so it's looking good."

Mills added that new winger Tristan Plummer has settled into the side well.

"He's very energetic and runs at defenders, which is something we've tried to recover with Mus [Mustapha Bundu] and Sid [Sirdic Grant] leaving and he's fitted in very well so far."

Mills added that Beadle wanted the players to play much better than in their previous two games.

"He has drilled it into us that it hasn't been as good as what he wanted," said Mills.

"We set our own standards last season and we haven't quite matches that yet.

"Training was very sharp on Thursday and you can see today that we are getting back to where we should be.

"Their [Bridgwater's] style of play fell into our hands really.

"They tried to play from the back and as long as we pressed high, we knew we could nick it.

"They're also not the most physical side and our play was real quick and fast."
