JAMIE Griffiths is used to running around after people due to his job as PR and administrator officer at Hereford FC.

Well this weekend, he will be running alongside thousands of other people this Sunday at the Virgin Money London Marathon.

The 33-year-old is taking part in aid of Birmingham Children's Hospital (BCH) thanks to the excellent the work they have done in caring for his son Arthur, who has undergone two operations on his bilateral cleft lip and palate.

"Words can’t describe how much we appreciate the care and support given to us by the cleft team at Birmingham," said Griffiths.

"They first visited us in Hereford just hours after Arthur was born, offering much needed support and advice at a very stressful time.

"The support during both operations, not only the care given to Arthur, but also to us as a family from all the staff was greatly appreciated by us.

"Arthur has undergone two life changing operations, but there are many thousands of children who are treated at BCH for life-threatening illnesses.

"While we were staying on the ward for Arthur’s first operation, a six-month-old baby girl was having her eye removed due to cancer.

"I am proud to be able to represent Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and know that many other families in Herefordshire have received outstanding care from them as well."

Griffiths, who has completed half marathons, says he is just aiming to finish the course.

"At London, I have been told to just enjoy it and suck up the atmosphere," he said.

"I will be running with a flag and and am looking to complete it within four-and-a-half-hours."

Griffiths has so far raised £3,100 and you can sponsor him by visiting justgiving.com/JamieGriffiths82 or by texting BCHA67 £5 or £10 to 70070.
