HEREFORD FC's FA Vase fifth round match against Hartley Wintney is in doubt tomorrow due to heavy rain forecast for tonight.

The Hampshire side have called for a 9am pitch inspection and have asked if anyone in the area has any covers that could protect the surface.

Heavy rain is set to hit the region from about 9pm tonight, but is set to stop at about 7am tomorrow morning.

Bright sunshine is then due to kick in from late morning.

A sell-out crowd of about 1,300 is set to to watch the match, with the winner just two rounds away from a trip to Wembley.

Hereford goalkeeper Martin Horsell says the players' are keeping their feet firmly on the ground, but admits a potential match at Wembley is in their minds.

"We've got to get there first and the only way we're going to do that is concentrate on our own game," said Horsell.

"The pitch could be a leveller because of the conditions, that could be a possibility, but I still think we've got quality to win that game .

"I haven't seen their personnel, but I think we're in sync and the lads are really starting to gel.

"I think we've got enough to win the game."

If the game is level, 30 minutes' of extra time will be played and if that doesn't separate the sides, the replay will be at Edgar Street on Tuesday.

As it stands, Hereford are due to face Alvechurch in the third round of the Midland Football League Cup on that date, with the winner travelling to Highgate United.

The FA Vase quarter-final draw is on Monday lunchtime and will be show live online.
