NEW Lads Club striker Cory Hyde is relishing hitting the back of the net on a regular occurrence this season.

Hyde has linked up with Danny Moon's team after leaving Pegasus Juniors after deciding not to play for Wellington.

"The hardest decision I made was leaving Pegasus, but I had to look at what I wanted out of football for the remaining years I have playing," said Hyde.

"I want what I've wanted since I first kicked a ball and that's to score goals.

"I feel that playing for Lads Club is where I will score most goals.

"That's absolutely no disrespect to Wellington, Pegasus or a few others I spoke to.

"I had to pick one and go with my head.

"I looked at Welly and they have a brilliant set up with some quality players.

"Gary Stevens is someone I have massive respect for and I am sure they will come close, there was just something stopping me and in football you have to look at little issues like that and address them.

"Lads Club was different.

"I had two games and it felt right from the start.

"They are a great bunch of lads with some real quality.

"Danny Moon is someone I know anyway and we share a mutual respect for one another so it all just fell into place."

Lads Club could not have wished for a better start to their West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division campaign following promotion.

Moon's team battered Wednesfield in the first half to open up a 5-1 lead.

Kiea Cowley scored two of the goals, with Dan Herbert, Liam Jones and Zac Sirrell also on target.

Wednesfield pulled a goal back in the second half, but the damage had already been done.

"I am optimistic about this season," added Hyde.

"I know the league and I know what it takes to come close.

"It will be testing and it will take a lot of effort, but the character I've seen in the changing room is more than equal to the challenge.

"Saturday was fantastic, I couldn't really ask for a better start.

"I didn't get on the scoresheet but as long as we're playing football like that and hitting teams the way we did in that first half I am happy.

"Herby and Kiea were brilliant and Tom Harding was outstanding when he came on too, so we will have a healthy battle for goals,

"The important thing is that we keep getting the three points though."

Hyde's former team Pegasus went down 3-1 to Cradley Town.

Mick Panniers' team were up against it from the start after Scott Stevenson opened the scoring for Cradley in the first minute.

Kyle Panniers equalised in the 32nd minute, but Cradley restored their lead with a goal at the start of the second half.

Stevenson sealed the win just past the hour mark.

Tonight, Lads Club go to Cradley while Pegasus host Bewdley Town.
