PEGASUS Juniors player-manager Anthony Robbins says it is vital that his side finishes high enough in the league to enter the FA Cup next season.

The Old School Lane side have turned the corner since Robbins was put in charge and are just five points behind fifth-placed Malvern Town in West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division.

Last Saturday, Pegasus beat AFC Bridgnorth 5-1 and are home again this weekend when they entertain Dudley Sports.

"The FA Cup is a big target for us because it brings so much publicity," said Robbins.

"I remember when we played Telford [in the Second Round Qualifying] and before that we beat Hednesford 4-1 away.

"It will be great for the club if we can get a good run in it."

Robbins has signed a number of youngsters from Hereford FC, including Bradley Williams, who scored last Saturday.

"Brad was released from Evesham and [Hereford manager Pete Beadle] wanted to look at him," added Robbins.

"But he hasn't played much recently and is lacking match fitness.

"It's evident that he's got ability, it's now up to him to put himself in the shop window for Pete.

"The link between the two clubs is going well.

"We've got Max Harris on loan, who has been brilliant in goal, and Lewis Clarke is going to be a cracking player."

Chris Mortlock also scored twice for Pegasus against Bridgnorth, with Cory Hyde and Dan Price netting the other goals.

"It was one of the toughest games since I joined – the scoreline certainly doesn't give it justice," added Robbins.
