PEGASUS Juniors continued their good home form by beating high-flying Malvern Town 1-0 in West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division.

The only goal of the game came from a towering Jack Lewis just before half time.

There were several other scoring opportunities for both teams, with the goalkeepers and frame of the goal preventing more goals.

Cory Hyde had a chance to open the scoring for Pegasus in the third minute, but saw his effort saved by Charlie Weaver in the Malvern goal.

The Pegasus striker then went close again, only to be denied by a double save from Weaver.

On the 18 minute mark, new Pegasus striker Tom Boyle forced Weaver to push the ball onto the crossbar before the same player narrowly shot wide.

Carlos Moreira then went close for Pegasus before Hyde saw a lob hit the crossbar.

But Pegasus did take the lead two minutes before half time when Lewis' headed home Moreira's corner.

Nathan Phillips, playing only his second game of the season for Pegasus following injury, then made a double save to deny Malvern from scoring after the break.

Phillips was injured in the process, but battled on after receiving treatment.

Malvern continued to apply pressure, but resolute defending from Pegasus kept them at bay.

The home team also had chances, but Weaver made a number of fine saves.
