PEGASUS Juniors manager James Edmonds hailed his side after they overcame West Midlands (Premier Division) leaders Shawbury United 2-1.

Goals from Ash Lear and Sam Pearson sealed the win.

"Considering we were playing the top-of-the-league side, it was a good result," said Edmonds.

"We put out a young side and it was very hard to find a man-of-the-match because there were quite a few stand-out performances."

Lear opened the scoring with a neat volley on nine minutes after being set-up by Pearson, before Pearson rounded the goalkeeper 14 minutes later to double Pegasus' lead.

Stuart Ellis pulled a goal back for Shawbury deep into stoppage time, but Peggy held on for the win.

It was the only match played in the division due to the wet weather.

Pegasus are due to be home to Malvern Town this Saturday.
