CITY side Pegasus Juniors have appointed a new manager following the departure of Chris Hyde.

Former Peggy player James Edmonds has taken over the reins at Old School Lane with Kevin Bethell, a fellow Level Three coach, as his assistant.

Edmonds has been involved with Pegasus for more than 30 years having joined the club as a 16-year-old player who progressed through the ranks to play for the Hellenic League team for more than a decade.

After ending his playing career, he began a successful coaching role which saw him teach youngsters in the Midland Junior League from under 8's level to under 18's, which included him overseeing two successful FA Youth Cup campaigns.

He is an FA Licensed coach having attained a Level 3 UEFA B badge.

Bethell, meanwhile, is set to bring a wealth of experience to the team having been a chief scout for many league clubs. One of the pair's first jobs will be to manage their new side against Hereford FC in an eagerly-anticipated friendly at Old School Lane on July 25.

The club's second team will continue to be managed by Marc Jarvis and Andy Mowen.

Pegasus finished last season in ninth place in the West Midland Regional League Premier Division.

They finished the campaign in decent form with back-to-back victories having played their final three matches of the season in just 96 hours.

Hotshot Sam Pearson netted 28 goals in just 30 appearances for the club during a successful campaign for the forward.
