PEGASUS top-scorer Kiea Cowley and his team-mates are looking forward to rekindling an old county rivalry early in the New Year.

Juniors have been drawn against Westfields in the semi-final of the HFA County Challenge Cup on either January 6 or 20 and will be looking to end their city rivals' run of success in the competition.

"We're hoping to have a few of our injured players back for that one, which is a very big game for us," said Cowley.

"There is a massive rivalry between the clubs.

"I'm sure Westfields will be up for it, too, and they will have all of their players available.

"But it would be nice to get a bit of a run going before that so we can get some of our confidence back.

"We can't go into the game with Westfields playing like we did today."

Cowley admitted that the injury situation had taken its toll on the side.

"We have 19 players out injured or suspended and most of them were here last season so it's really a whole new team," he said.

"We haven't really gelled with so many new players and Dudley were poor today and we came down to their level. Confidence is a big thing, too.

"I'm 22 and I'm one of the oldest in the team."

Cowley's own form has been impressive despite Juniors' recent run of injuries and the young midfielder is looking to boost his tally before the end of the season.

"We don' t have any strikers at the moment so someone has to stand in," he said.

"I'm still the top goalscorer and I would like to keep that up, and that's with most of my goals coming from left midfield.

"I've got 11 at the moment and I'm aiming for 25 by the end of the season, which wouldn't be bad from left midfield."
