THE road to Wembley could start at Pegasus Juniors for budding county footballers in a televised talent competition.

Pegasus’ Old School Lane ground is hosting an open trial next month for England’s most talented amateur footballers aged over 25 years.

The Budweiser Open Trial competition will be covered by BT Sport and players are battling it out for a place in a showpiece match at Wembley.

Applications are now open for the trial, which will be held at Juniors’ Old School Lane on Sunday, February 9.

And the most successful players will then progress to a second trial at St George’s Park in March.

Pegasus are one of six clubs from across the country who have been selected to host a Budweiser Open Trial.

A total 32 players will be picked from the trials and split into two squads of 16 as the sides clash at the home of English Football the day after the second FA Cup semi-final in April.

Last year, Pegasus won a £50,000 grant from the Budweiser Club Futures scheme which was then followed up by an additional £100,000 from the Football Foundation.
