POST-MATCH hot-dogs are a thing of the past at Pegasus Juniors, who are showing hunger for a step-up to the Midland Alliance.

Proud chief executive Kevin Bishop says players and supporters are now served with meals, such as curry and chips after home games following £180,000 improvements at the club.

A purpose-built kitchen and a re-vamped clubhouse are among the work carried out at Old School Lane.

Bishop said: “A couple of weeks ago, we invited some of the club’s original players up to the ground. Their eyes were wide open when they walked into the clubhouse.

“They had an excellent time and we served them an excellent lunch before the game. People are very impressed with the facilities and the calibre of food we’re delivering through the kitchen. These are exciting times for Pegasus Juniors.”

The West Midlands League Premier Division club have revamped their car park, put new fencing around the ground, installed new dug-outs, improved the changing rooms and extended the clubhouse. They are also creating a boardroom.

Pegasus scooped £50,000 after making a successful application last season to the Budweiser Clubs for Future grant and matched it with £100,000 from Football Foundation.

Bishop said: “For our next project we are looking to develop a new patio area at the back of he club. We now have some of the best facilities in the West Midlands League.”

Bishop, who made the application to the Budweiser grant scheme, has been involved at Pegasus Juniors since 1975.

He has enjoyed unbroken service as a player, manager and now a club director.

“We would like to get into the Midland Alliance,” admitted Bishop.

“We played at that level when we were in the Hellenic League and we want to get to that level again. We are doing well in the West Midlands League.”

Bishop added: “I am very proud what the present board of directors have achieved and we are always looking to make improvements at the club.”
