Wednesfield 2 Wellington 3.
TWO goals from Pete Wood and another from Ben Fischer kept Wellington in touch with the pacemakers in the West Midlands League Premier Division.
Wellington had taken an early lead but were pegged back at the interval before re-establishing a two-goal advantage after the break.
“It was a very good win for us and we could have won by more goals,” said Wellington chairman Phil Smith.
“We really dominated the second half - they were a big bruising side but we kept going as they tired.
“There was plenty of free-flowing football and it was the best that we have played all season.”
Smith played tribute to teenage full-back Sam Archer-Plane.
“Sam is only 17 years old but he did particularly well and had a very good game,” he said. “He was not intimidated at all.” The victory moved Wellington up to eighth.
l Bartestree survived a nightmare journey to return from a trip to Riverway with a West Midlands League Division Two point from a 1-1 draw.
After taking three hours to make the trip to Stoke-on-Trent, the villagers arrived just 10 minutes before the scheduled 3pm start.
The kick-off was delayed by 10 minutes but the visitors showed no ill effects to have the better of the first-half action.
In the second period, however, Bartestree were caught on the break to fall behind.
But they fought back and Marc Avery smashed home the equaliser to keep them in fifth place in the table.
Lads Club remain unbeaten but have drawn three of their four games to date.
Ledbury Town suffered a 4-2 loss at Newport Town.
