Westfields 2 Friar Lane & Epworth 4 WESTFIELDS' unbeaten Polymac Services Midland Alliance run of four games came to an end at home to the league newcomers from Leicestershire.

The lively visitors took the lead when the Westfields defence failed to clear a cross and John Chapman slotted home.

But Westfields hit back and, after leading scorer Mark Davis had seen a shot well saved by goalkeeper Dean Meadows, they found themselves on level terms when Kevin Jinks received the ball from Mark Hibbard and drove home from 20 yards.

The city side suffered a blow when centre-back Scott Jackson was unable to resume after the interval due to an ankle injury and Friar Lane wasted no time in taking advantage with Chapman heading his second goal from a Jamie Marsh cross.

Lewis Gibbons extended the visitors' lead shortly afterwards with a fine 20-yard shot.

Westfields swiftly cut the deficit when Davis rose high to head a Jinks cross out of reach of Meadows and into the net.

But the in-form Chapman completed his treble when he slammed home from 25 yards to round off the win.

In the closing stages, Derek Craddock and Mark Hibbard both missed good chances to get Westfields back into the game when they failed to find the net from close range.
