Hereford Times Hereford-shire League Premier Division leaders Woofferton suffered a surprise reverse when they went down 4-3 at home to newly-promoted Bartestree in the second round of the HFA County Challenge Cup.
Woofferton made a bright start but then found themselves two goals adrift, rather against the run of play, after half-an-hour.
The home side first of all failed to clear a corner, allowing a simple tap-in for Gareth Griffiths, and then Daniel Gower deflected a free-kick from Griffiths, which was heading well wide of the target, into his own goal.
Chris Breakwell reduced arrears after a one-two with skipper Richard Wozencroft and then thought he had equalised early in the second period, only for the strike to be chalked off due to a foul on the Bartestree goalkeeper.
A fine run and shot from Darren Andrews then brought the visitors' third goal and matters were effectively settled when Mark Langford seized on a poor clearance to add a fourth.
Ben Apperley set up Stuart Millichamp to reduce arrears and Breakwell headed in Wozencroft's flick to set up an exciting finish.
Woofferton threw everything into attack in the last 10 minutes but were unable to find an equaliser.
Premier Division reigning champions Ewyas Harold made their expected progress into the third round with a 4-0 over visiting Fownhope.
The home side's prolific marksman Matt Pitt was on target twice with the other goals coming from Mark Cooper and Matt Avery.
