Herefordshire football clubs eye FA Cup and FA Vase matches

WELLINGTON could face former Conference team Leek Town if they get all the way to the first qualifying round of next season’s FA Cup.

The Northern League Division One South side fought Hereford in the late 1990s and beat the Bulls 3-2 in the 1998-99 season.

But to get that far, Wellington will have to beat Highgate United in the extra preliminary round and Brockton or Bewdley Town in the preliminary round.

Elsewhere, Westfields travel to Shawbury United in the extra preliminary round, with the winners at home to Sutton Coldfield-based Romulus.

Should Sean Edwards’ men make it to the first qualifying round, they will face either Cradley Town, Shifnal Town, Norton United or Alvechurch in the first qualifying round.

Pegasus Juniors face a tricky home tie against United Counties League Premier Division winners Long Bucky Town in the extra preliminary round, with the winners travelling to Sutton Coldfield Town.

The winners of that tie will then face either Gornal Athletic, Malvern Town, Ellesmere Rangers or Coventry Sphinx.

In the FA Vase first qualifying round, Pegasus are home to Coventry Copsewood, Wellington are away to Pilkington XXX and Bromyard make the short trip to Malvern.

Westfields have got a bye to the first round where they will face either Black Country Rangers, Heath Hayes or Boldmere St Michaels.

FA Vase: First qualifying round, Saturday, September 1; Second qualifying round, Saturday, September 15; First round proper, Saturday, October 13
