Wellington winger Wayne McNeil joins Midland Alliance outfit Westfields, from Hereford

WELLINGTON winger Wayne McNeil has joined higher-graded Hereford rivals Westfields.

‘Macca’ has been a stand-out performer for Derek Williams’ Wellington and a long-term target for Westfields.

He impressed Westfields’ boss Sean Edwards with his two HFA County Challenge Cup appearances for Wellington.

Wellington manager Williams said he was disappointed to lose one of his key players, who also hailed from the village.

“I am disappointed to hear the news,” said Williams.

“Once you lose one of your best players, it can lead to other players going.”

Westfields have also signed central-defender Dene Whittal- Williams from Stourport Swifts and Worcester Universitybased Jack Skinner Westfields’ reported back for training on Sunday and their first home pre-season friendly is against Championship side Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday, July 25 (kick-off 6.30pm).
