Fry’s late header gives county win

12:10pm Friday 2nd May 2008

Herefordshire FA 1 Oxfordshire FA 0 A LAST-gasp header from Josh Fry gave Herefordshire a fine, but perhaps fortunate, win in the Midland Counties Under-16 Youth Championship.

Fry struck in injury-time after Joe Loftus raced down the right-flank to deliver a pin-point cross.

Earlier, Oxfordshire rattled the crossbar in the first half and forced Herefordshire goalkeeper, Ed Coombes, into making a couple of excellent saves.

Oxfordshire attacked for most of the second half but Coombes and his defenders worked hard to keep out the lively visiting forwards.

HEREFORDSHIRE FA host Derbyshire FA on Sunday and then Birmingham County FA on Tuesday in the Midland Counties Under-16 Youth Championship.
