Wellington 4 Calverton Miners Welfare 0 ANDY Price scored three goals to fire Wellington into the second round of the FA Vase with a comfortable win over their Nottinghamshire-based opponents.

With Mike Craig and Matt Williams causing problems down the flanks, Wellington looked dangerous from the start. Dale Withers was just off target with an early shot.

Price gave them the lead 10 minutes before the break. Will Perkins started the move, which also involved Craig and Tom Herbert, allowing Price to drill the ball home from the edge of the area.

Calverton went close to an equaliser but Marcus Priday saved the day with a fine stop.

Wellington increased the tempo in the second half and Price made the game safe with two headers to complete his hat-trick.

Both goals were created by Perkins, floating over a corner on the hour mark for the first and then achieving the same outcome from a free-kick 10 minutes later.

Aaron Morgan rounded off the scoring when he headed home the rebound after the Miners keeper failed to hold a powerful header by Withers.

Wellington will now entertain Midland Alliance side Friar Lane and Epworth in a second-round tie on Novermber 17.

Wellington warmed up for the FA Vase fixture with a 2-0 win against Hinton at Broomy Hill, to reach the second round of the HFA Senior Floodlit Cup.

Tom Herbert and Craig Sewell scored the goals in the second-half.
