HEREFORD FC midfielder Rob Purdie has announced he is to retire at the end of the season.
The 35-year-old has played a pivotal role in Hereford FC’s promotion push and had recently qualified as a fireman.
The Hereford FC website said today: “After talks with the manager about his new role as a firefighter, it is felt that it would be too hard for Rob to give the commitment that the club needs for the coming season.
"Rob has therefore made the difficult decision to retire from football at the end of the season.
“Purdie will continue to be available for selection for the remaining games of the season, subject to work commitments.”
