AIDAN Thomas netted a hat-trick to make Westfields' 220 mile round trip to Rocester worth it.

After suffering a three hour journey and only arriving shortly before kick-off the visitors hit the ground running on the 5th minute with Thomas connecting with a Craig Jones through ball to put his side ahead.

Five minute later Thomas doubled their lead with Jones' through ball beating the off-side trap and allowing the striker to slot home.

However, the relegation threatened hosts pulled a goal back only for Thomas to out pace the defence and net his hat-trick before the break.

After the haf-time Rocester came out of the blocks and scored within two minutes of the restart only for Alex Hainault to complete a 4-2 victory.

Westfields visited Loughborough University on Saturday and missed a host of chances during a 1-1 draw.

The visitors took the lead when neat interplay resulted in Carlos Moreira providing a square pass for Craig Jones who finished with a left-foot shot to put Westfields ahead at the interval 1-0.

New striker Seth Antwi and Kingsford Adjei both had good opportunities to have increased the lead but their efforts went wide and then Craig Jones also had a great opportunity from 20 yards out but his shot went high and wide.

Eventually the Students came back into the game and equalised six minutes from the end.

Last week Westfields travelled to title-contenders Worcester City and were beaten by a 20-yard direct free kick by George Forsyth early in the second half.

Westfields’ best chance fell just before the interval when a left-wing corner from Craig Jones found Carlos Moreira at the far post unmarked but his tame header was easily gathered by a grateful Matt Gwynne against his former club.

That was all that separated the two teams that put up strong defensive shutters in which both defences did extremely well.
