A PAIR of former Hereford United players have started their own football school in search of the next star.

Both now retired Paul Parry and Darren Jones created the Parry & Jones Soccer School (PJSS) last October- which has attracted 100 children between the ages of six to 14.

Parry arrived at Hereford United as a trainee and made 150 appearances between 1998 and 2004 before playing for Cardiff City and then later at Shrewsbury Town.

Jones made 40 appearances for the Bulls between 2009 and 2010 before going on to play for Aldershot Town and then alongside Parry at Shrewsbury Town.

PJSS currently employs five coaches, including a goalkeeping coach and they are also aiming to recruit a female coach as they aim to begin training sessions for girls in the near future.

Currently coaching sessions are held in South Wales and the soccer school have received a major boost thanks to an official tie-up with the Bristol City Academy.

"Obviously Bristol City have seen the benefit of what we’re doing and I think they’ve wanted somewhere over here for some time,” said Parry.

“They’ve been waiting for the right people to take it and they found out about us.

“We jumped at it because it will be good for us and for the coaches to go over there and learn from their coaches and see how they do things in their academy.

"Our end goal is to send people over to them and for them to come and take people from us because we are a development centre.

“We want to nurture the children who come to us and give them structured sessions and our reward will be for a couple of hundred to be picked off and go over to their academy.”
